It’s always the case when there are no technical founders, and sometimes the case even when there are. The tech executives can sway big decisions this way or that because the CEO usually cannot tell whether their calls are justifiable. Should this business logic request truly require two months, making it irrelevant? Is it really a huge mistake to push to get something out the door within two weeks? Are we incapable of retaining talent, and this turnover is to be expected?
It can be abused, as I have seen in the past, either by malice (turning off the faucet because you decide so) or by incompetence (not knowing there’s a better way to do things). Instead of the abuse, think of using it for greatness. If you say something is possible, few will tell you it’s not. What can you accomplish?
